The “F” Word?
Faith, Fire, Favor.

Let’s add to those three words,
three others: forgiveness, fruit, freedom.

I was baptized last September 29, 2024 in a makeshift pool at a former bar hall now called V1 Church in Brooklyn. It seemed uneventful at the time until I was reminded that I had become “a new creation”. The following work is the fruit of a desire birthed within to speak in new tongues.

“Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
– Matthew 9:17

In his book “Fresh Oil, Holy Fire, New Wine” (pages 26-27) pastor and author Samuel Rodriguez expounds upon the idea of new wineskins:

“When you have Jesus, you are no longer who you were in the past – you are a new creature in Christ. When you welcome Jesus into your heart, you need to recognize the need for change. New wine requires new wineskins. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you cannot expect to act as you once did.”

You cannot expect to relate as you once did.

You cannot expect to love as you once did.

You cannot expect to work as you once did.

You cannot expect to play as you once did.

You cannot expect to worship as you once did.

You cannot expect to praise as you once did.
