The Wardrobe
“The Wardrobe”, based on C.S. Lewis’ “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” explores spiritual warfare as seen through the eyes of four siblings and a magical gateway. The artist steps into a world full of snares, deep impasses and hidden valleys. Things are not quite what they seem…

The Artists Steps Through the Wardrobe: “What do you mean?” cried Verna, turning very white. You are the child,” said Tumnus. “I had orders from the White Witch that if ever I saw a Son of Adam or a Daughter of Eve in the wood, I was to catch them and hand them over to her.”

"The Artist Steps Through the Wardrobe: “I’m sitting against a tree,” said Diane, “and look! It’s getting light – over there”. “By Jove, you’re right,” said Eric, “and look there – and there. It’s trees all around. And this wet stuff is snow. Why, I do believe we’ve got into Verna’s wood after all."

The White Witch in the Wood: “But what are you?” said the Queen again. “Are you a great overgrown dwarf that has cut off its’ beard?” “No, your Majesty,” said Bob, “I never had a beard, I’m a boy.” “A boy!” said she. “Do you mean you are a Son of Adam?”

"But where’s he been taken to?” said Verna. “Well, they were heading northwards when they were last seen and we all know what that means.” “No we don’t,” said Diane. Mr. Beaver shook his head in a very gloomy fashion. “I’m afraid it means they were taking him to her House.” He said. “But what’ll they do to him, Mr. Beaver?” gasped Verna. “Well,” said Mr. Beaver “you can’t exactly say for sure. But there’s not many taken in there that ever comes out again. Statues. All full of statues they say it is – in the courtyard and up the stairs…People she’s turned” - (he paused and shuttered) “turned into stone.” – C. S. Lewis from “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

“I’m very sorry, Mr. Tummus” said Verna. “But please let me go home.” “Of course, I will” said the Faun. “…I see that now. I hadn’t known what Humans were like before I met you. I can’t give you up to the Witch; now that I know you...” “We must go as quietly as we can.” said Mr. Tumnus. “The whole wood is full of her spies. Even some of the trees are on her side.” - From C.S. Lewis’ “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe”.
